Since 1990, Smart Production Solutions (SPS) has been a platform for the world’s greatest automation technology. It now attracts 50,000 attendees and 1,200+ exhibitors with more than a million square metres of exhibition space.

In 2011, SPS – organised by Mesago Messe Frankfurt – expanded into Italy and China. Now it’s coming to North America: September 16-18 2025 at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta. CUSTOMIZED HMI ENCLOSURES

Precision control is critical in automation because it directly impacts quality, efficiency, safety and cost-effectiveness. Central to all this is the sophisticated HMI technology that must be safeguarded in challenging industrial environments. A robust, resilient housing is essential but toughness and good ingress protection are not enough – ROLEC’s enclosures also underline the elegance of the technology because aesthetics matter in today’s smart factories.

Good HMI enclosures are typically unique to their application, which is why ROLEC’s profile-based multiPANEL (IP 65) and profiPANEL (IP 65) offer plenty of customisation options. These aluminum housings can be specified in any plan size from 5.90" to 31.50" – to tight tolerences. So modifications are not an afterthought: they begin at the start of the process.

Which model should you specify? Premium multiPANEL was the progenitor and it remains our flagship HMI enclosure. Choose from two depths (2.75", 3.34") and three rear panel/door options: bolted rear wall, bolted door, or door with locks and hinges.

But versatile profiPANEL is more cost-effective and has more standard depth options: nine  depths from 2.36"60 to 11.81". It can also be specified with a matching keyboard enclosure (though keyboard and mouse trays are also available as accessories). And if you want to save even more money then profiPANEL Standard (IP 54) is available in six off-the-shelf plan sizes (11.81" x 11.81" to 24.47" x 23.62"), all 3.54" deep.

DIECAST ALUMINUM ENCLOSURES FOR AUTOMATION

Despite the rise of profile-based panel enclosures, there is still strong demand for IP-rated diecast housings. Ergonomic commandCASE (IP 66) with its elegant front panel handles is tough, dependable and available in three versions: hinged lid with quick-action closure; hinged lid screw-fixed from the rear; fixed lid screw-fixed from the rear. Optional available certifications include UL and DNV.

Award-winning aluDOOR (IP 66, IP 67, IP 68, IP 69K) exemplifies the new generation of hinged-lid aluminum enclosures. Structurally integrated lid hinges, stainless steel lid screws and threaded inserts ensure that aluDOOR can handle very harsh industrial and outdoor conditions. All the fixings are hidden beneath stylish trims. ‘Lid closed’ installation protects the seal and electronics when the enclosure is being fitted in dusty or damp conditions.

PREMIUM SUSPENSION ARMS FOR HMI ENCLOSURES

It’s obvious that any good suspension arm must support the HMI or command enclosure and make it easy to manoeuvre to the perfect angle for viewing and operating the touch screen. That’s a given. But equally important is what’s happening inside the arm during these movements. There must be generous capacity for cabling. And that sensitive wiring must be protected when the arm is moved. At no point can any connection ever be compromised by wire abrasion.

ROLEC’s profiPLUS 50 and 70 modular suspension arms feature integrated cable protection in all system parts – with generous capacity for HDMI, DVI and USB cabling. Both these premium arms feature patented one-screw adjustment for fast, hassle-free installation. They are recommended for multiPANEL, profiPANEL and commandCASE enclosures, and can also accommodate screens from other leading manufacturers such as Siemens, Beckhoff and B&R.

The profiPLUS 50 range (IP 54) can support light to medium loads up to 80 kg while the larger profiPLUS 70 (IP 54) can handle up to 120 kg. These maximum payloads are based on a system length of one metre (and adding an intermediate joint reduces payload capacity by 40%).

Configuring your perfect suspension arm is simple. Both models feature a wide range of joints, bases, profiles, adapters, couplings and elbows: profiPLUS 50 includes Siemens, Beckhoff, B&R and VESA adapters – and a 70/50 adapter that allows you to combine elements from each range.
